NEWS

December

It has been awhile since this NEWS site has been updated. It has been an extremely busy summer and fall, but here is some of the news from Cayuse Creek Ranch.

On our last update, we announced the birth of Thee Paris Debut's colt. He has grown a lot, obviously, and will be sent out for training early next month to Wes Eddy at Longview Training Center in Brantford, ON. Sammie, as we call him for now, is nominated for the Egyptian Breeders Challenge class at the Egyptian Event in KY in June, 2012. This breeding class is known for it's large payout for the top 10 winners, so we are hoping Sammie can show successfully.

Madonna Hafiza (“Maddy”), had a beautiful Egyptian colt as well this year. We will be calling him El Hakeem. He is for sale to a good home and is a sweet, happy little guy. He will be a medium size and gray in colour. See him on the For Sale page.

Our endurance season was both successful and not. HAF Allieena+/ (“Leena”) came in 2nd in Endurance in OCTRA. Her highlight was winning the 50 mile Ontario Championship Endurance Race. She finished the year strong with a 3rd place finish at Oktoberfest.

Kashif, on the other hand, had some lameness issues in his last two races, both right hind stiffness. He is going through chiropractic treatments and will be sent out for dressage training in the winter to help him with his balance. These problems showed up as he increased his speed in the races. Hopefully he can start the 2012 season, but if he cannot he will always be an excellent recreational riding horse for Bob.

In November we went to Michigan and came back with two French bred Arabians, Helfire and TT Contender (aka "Pretzel" - because of his amazing flexibility). Both of these horses had successful flat track racing careers, and Pretzel spent his last 3 years as a barrel and pole bending horse. These two boys will be groomed for endurance in 2012, with Pretzel to replace Leena in 2013 as she will be 18 years old and will be given a new life as a brood mare.

Both MB Sehnari (“Sid”) and Sadeek were sold to good homes this summer, Sid becoming a school horse and Sadeek being trained for dressage.

The alpaca socks are now available, in both brown and gray in both Sports and Work styles. Prices are $31 for the Sport and $33 for the Work. These are the "warmest socks on the planet" and the Work Socks are perfect for cold weather riding.
